Review Time – Unto The Ages

Review Time Unto The Ages
There’s something stirring in the Midlands. It’s heavy, grungey and sounds straight out of the ‘90’s and called Unto The Ages.
Unto The Ages are coming out of Middle England with fists clenched, teeth bared, and riffs heavy enough to crack foundations. Drawing on the grit and glory of early ‘90s metal, this is a band that’s not interested in trends they’re here to remind you why you fell in love with heavy music in the first place. It is Review Time for Unto The Ages.
A Sound That Doesn’t Sit Still
At first listen, you’ll catch traces of the melodic death metal greats, sure. But Unto The Ages aren’t just doing a tribute act. There’s groove metal swagger in there, thanks to some hip-hop elements. There’s the angular stomp of hardcore, the raw nerve of early metalcore, and even a few rhythmic choices that give a nod to hip hop’s sense of flow. It’s a mix that somehow works, and more importantly, sounds like them.
Heavy, melodic, jagged and bleak, it’s music built from rust and resolve. There’s atmosphere here, but it never gets too clean. The production is gritty, the edges are rough, and that’s exactly how it should be.
Songs That Actually Say Something

There’s weight behind the words too. This isn’t your run-of-the-mill blood-and-guts-for-the-sake-of-it metal. Lyrically, the band dig deep, into mental health, grief, disillusionment, the slow rot of society. You can hear it in the vocals, raspy belting one minute, full-on guttural the next, then pulling back into eerie harmonies and gang-shouted refrains that feel more like war cries than choruses.
Unto The Ages Is Built on Grit, Not Gimmicks
There’s a real sense that this band has been through the grinder before getting here. Decades of combined graft, now channelled into something that finally feels right. No outside entity shaping the sound, no corporate polish, just musicians making honest, heavy music because it’s in their bones.
Melodic Death Metal Isn’t Dead – It’s Just Underground Again
While the mainstream’s looking elsewhere, Unto The Ages are proving there’s still fresh blood to spill in the melodic death metal realm. Their sound is a throwback, sure, but it’s not nostalgic. It’s urgent. It’s now. And it’s necessary.
If you’re into bands that still mean it, really mean it, then keep your eyes peeled. They’re already working on new music and videos, and you’d do well to catch them live before the venues start getting bigger. Because if there’s any justice in the scene, Unto The Ages won’t be staying underground for long.
