TT Testing time: OWO Haptics

Immersion, immersion, immersion. We are in a period of gaming where virtual reality is present, AI is being used to create unique dialogue and Rockstar Gaming made the testicles of horses in Red Dead Redemption 2 react to the temperature they are in.

Haptic vests/tops are another piece of hardware to assist with this. One of the most popular brands for this is OWO. Their website says you can feel around 30 sensations, such as the wind gently brushing over your skin…or a gunshot. OWO have helpfully made a list of what you can feel.

Now it is safe to say that most people would rather not know what it is like to be shot or hit with an axe or a…severe abdominable wound. But for some this addition to the immersion of a video game is something straight out of the future. With this and the increased quality of virtual reality headsets how close are we to a Star Trek Holodeck?

Compatible games

The OWO website also has a list of games that it’s technology is compatible with. These include GTA 5, Assassins Creed Mirage, PubG, Halo Infinite, Forza, Blades and Sorcery, the DIRT series, Farming Simulator, Rollercoaster sim, and World of Tanks.

Boasting an 8 hour battery life, 9 flexible sizes and full wireless the OWO ‘skins’ come in at €599. Depending on how much you care about video game immersion this is either alot of money for what it is or no where near enough money for what it is.

I for one have this on my wishlist.
