Breaking News from Canada! Current Ring of Honor Women’s World Champion, the incredible and electrifying Athena, has been announced to make her debut appearance for a newly revived company.

Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling is the company in question, which in short is an iconic wrestling promotion that has been revived by fantastic Ex-TNA Booker Scott D’Amore.

Athena is set to make an appearance at the two-night event known as Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling: Forged In Excellence. And with ‘Excellence’ in the name it only makes sense to have some of the biggest and best named talents on the independent/semi-independent circuit.

Athena’s Current Run

Athena is one of the finest women’s talents out in the wrestling world at the moment. She was not used particularly well in WWE before her release in 2021. Since then like so many talents victim to ‘budget cuts’ she made a huge impact on the Independent Scene before arriving in AEW.

Unfortunately, and what is all too common in AEW, some of the worlds finest professional wrestlers are signed and then…exactly that…virtually nothing. Athena has been proving all of her hype correct on the Ring of Honor brand.

She is however the longest reigning Ring of Honor Women’s World Champion ever winning the title back in 2022, and wrestling through multiple injuries. Since then, she has had great feuds with Billie Starkz and Emi Sakura, but it really is time to do one of two things.

Either bring Ring of Honor up to its previous level and not only make her the face of the Women’s Division but quite frankly of the whole company. The historic run she is currently in proves she deserves and can do this. Or bring her to AEW main roster or TNA or even back to WWE and let her prove herself on the grandest stages.

This however is a fantastic addition to the Maple Leaf Pro card in October this year, hopefully Athena will have a string of matches for this promotion and no more terrible tag matches with Ronda Rousey.
