After a long hiatus Frowned Upon is back with ‘Review Time’ this time for The Ariston. Originally a three-piece band consisting of drama school friends Luca, Will and Clay, who spent most of their times in the music rooms and eventually formed a band called ØNE30, before Clay met Finn who ended up joining the band, becoming The Ariston.

The Ariston

Fronted by Luca, with Finn on drums, Clay on guitar and Will on bass, the band have a timeless indie/alternative rock sound and since the release of their debut single ‘Yellow Lines’ on August 26th, 2022, this band from Southeast England have hit some simply incredible strides, to say these guys are rising stars is a vast understatement.

Their gigging schedule has seen them play to sold-out venues such as The Star Inn and The Boileroom in Guildford. They’ve also graced the stages of major festivals like the 60th Anniversary Marshall Hanwell Hootie and Pennfest, further solidifying their reputation as a band to watch.

The Ariston has also played at some iconic locations like The Bedford in Balham, Camden Assembly, and even Twickenham Stadium, showcasing their ability to captivate audiences on any stage.

This cohesive unit brings a truly unique energy to their music. On March 3rd, 2023, The Ariston released their debut Live EP, ‘The Vinyl’. This grassroots project offers a raw and authentic glimpse into how the band’s sound originated, providing fans with a taste of their musical journey.

Beyond great music, The Ariston has also shown a commitment to making a positive impact. They have collaborated with WarChild UK as part of the RISING campaign, helping to raise funds for children affected by war around the world.

In 2023, the band achieved another milestone by headlining their first festival at Sutton United FC’s Sutton Summer Festival, which helped to promote the club’s 23/24 kit.

Adding to their growing list of accomplishments is something seriously unbelievable. The Ariston had the opportunity to portray the legendary punk rock band The Clash in the upcoming feature film ‘Bob Marley: One Love’, set to be released on Valentine’s Day 2024. This not only highlights their versatility as performers and artists but also underscores their rising prominence in the music industry.

The Festival

The bands most recent new single is titled ‘The Festival’ and was released back in May of 2024 and could quite possibly be their best piece of music to date.

A slightly heavier sound than some of their previous titles, ‘The Festival’ has a bit of a Muse feel to it and I can only imagine how full of energy this will sound live with a crowd at fever pitch.

The Festival, like their other songs, achieves something that only more old school bands tend to manage which is allowing each member of the band to flourish. Luca the singer has a natural charisma in his voice that hooks you in, Finn keeps a steady but intricate beat on drums, every riff played by Clay and Will fits the song and section perfectly.

The Ariston

The Ariston’s journey is one of passion, talent, and an unwavering drive to succeed. With each performance and project, they continue to leave their mark on the music world, promising an exciting future ahead.
