Gears of War news coming in June?
Fans of the Gears of War series may have finally have something to look forward to this summer, as reports suggest that Gears 6 will be officially announced on June 9th, 2024. According to The Verge, the next instalment of the beloved shooter franchise will be revealed during an Xbox Showcase event slated for that day.
While neither the sequel nor the showcase has been officially confirmed, The Verge states that Microsoft is currently in the planning stages for its summer showcase, with the announcement of a new Gears of War game on the agenda.
In addition to Gears 6, The Verge predicts that the showcase will unveil release dates for several highly anticipated titles, including Flight Simulator 2024, Avowed, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and this year’s instalment of Call of Duty, which is now under the umbrella of Microsoft-owned Activision.
If the reports hold true, the Xbox Showcase will coincide with other major gaming events, such as the Summer Game Fest, which is set to kick off on June 7th with an in-person event in Los Angeles, California. Additionally, Ubisoft Forward is scheduled for June 10th, adding to the excitement surrounding the gaming industry during that timeframe.
The development of Gears 6 comes as no surprise to industry insiders, as Xbox studio The Coalition reportedly shifted its focus to the highly anticipated title last year. The studio allegedly cancelled two unannounced projects in order to concentrate its efforts on the next instalment of the Gears of War franchise.
