Country ICON Toby Keith has lost his battle with Cancer

Country Legend Toby Keith has sadly passed away at the age of 62. His death comes after a battle with stomach cancer that lasted a little over two years.

After discovering the cancer, the country star cancelled a large number of dates. However, he did perform at the Peoples Choice Country Awards where he also won the ‘Country Icon Award’.
That award is truly fitting.
He was also awarded National Medal of Arts, had 20 number one singles an extra 22 songs in the top 10, wrote and co-wrote at least one country song that made it to the numeber one spot over the past 20 years and appeared on the cover of Forbes.

A fantastic musician and singer, who with songs like “Should’ve been a cowboy”, “Does that blue moon ever shine on you?” and “she never cried in-front of me”. Captured the tortured longing of a lot of old school country music.
Opposite this however was his ability to create songs with a comedic element almost parodying the country genre and the South itself. Toby Keith did this with songs like “Red Solo Cup”, “I Wanna Talk About Me”, “I love this bar” and “Trailerhood”.
But the true genius was the ability to combine both of those elements, with songs like “I ain’t as good as I once was” and “Bullets in the gun” and “a little less talk a little more action”.
The music videos of his too were brilliant. Beer for my horses Feat. Willie Nelson is a standout. Trailerhood and A little too late should also be checked out.
Another cool point for fans of other topics here on Frowned Upon is that Toby Keith appeared on the first episode of TNA. He came to the aid of Scott Hall and hit a stalling suplex on Double J Jeff Jarrett. He also appeared in a segment with the Bella Twins on WWE television back in 2010 and accompanied them to the ring.

Personal Note
Toby Keith was one of the reasons I am a fan of country music. I used him as a huge inspiration for a song I wrote during my Music GCSE, and to me is one of those artists where the “you should listen to *this song*” is just endless with him.
Shouldve been a Cowboy, Red Solo Cup, American Soldier, Trailerhood, Little Too Late, Mockingbird, I Wanna Talk About Me, How Do You Like Me Know?, I’m just talking about tonight, My List, Stays in Mexico and Whiskey Girl.
That list really is to just name a few of his incredible discography, I could make four or five paragraphs just like that off the top of my head.
My heart and condolences go out to Toby Keiths family and hopefully they realise what he meant to a lot of people.
