Mafia: The Old Country-Has already needed clarification

0

2K and Hangar 13 surprised fans yesterday by announcing the next entry in the Mafia franchise at Gamescon 2024. Following the announcement, some viewers noticed that the game, set in home of the Mafia Sicily, seemed to lack Italian voice acting. However, 2K quickly reassured fans that Sicilian voice acting would be included.

The official Mafia account addressed the issue on X (formerly Twitter), confirming that Mafia: The Old Country will feature Sicilian voice acting. This distinction is significant because Sicilian is not merely a dialect but a separate language with its own vocabulary and pronunciation, distinct from Italian.

Additionally, the new Mafia game will offer Italian language localisation for subtitles and the in-game UI, as stated on the Steam page. This clarification came after some fans pointed out that the Steam listing mentioned full voice acting in six languages: English, French, German, Spanish (Spain), Czech, and Russian, but omitted Italian.

Mafia: The Old Country is set in 1900s Sicily and promises to deliver a “gritty mob story.” The game is scheduled for release next year on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. 2K also teased that more details about the game will be shared in December, possibly during the 2024 Game Awards.

Stay tuned here for more information about Mafia: The Old Country as it comes out…or prepare to wake up with a horses head in your bed.
