To some peoples surprise here at\u00a0Frowned Upon\u00a0we aren\u2019t just into metal or classic rock or pop punk like previously featured, sometimes we want to kick back and chill out to some R&B and I have the perfect artist for that.\u00a0N I K A.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"\/<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

N I K A is a contemporary R&B singer songwriter from the Cambridgeshire and Norfolk area. After taking on her first big stage experience on the first series of The Voice Kids seen here, getting the attention of Black Eyed Peas legend Will.I.Am after just a few moments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since then, this soulful voice has released numerous original tracks like \u2018Boss\u2019 and \u2018Dance With Me\u2019 but the most recent songs released are \u2018Closer\u2019 and \u2018Player\u2019. \u2018Closer\u2019 released on the 14th<\/sup> of July 2023 and \u2018Player\u2019 released on 4th<\/sup> of August 2023 are fantastic examples of N I K A\u2019s talents and are great little tasters of her upcoming debut EP (watch this space for a release date).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Citing some of her influences as Jorja Smith, Mahalia and Amy Winehouse. After following her music for a while and recently doing a full deep dive the Amy Winehouse influence is so prevalent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Being able to harness a voice with so much power, passion, control and experience at just the age of 20 is beautiful. The soft silvery tone alone on each track transports you into a quiet jazz club from times gone by. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Closer\u2019 has quite rightly featured on BBC Music Introducing Cambridgeshire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alongside this N I K A has also previously been featured on BBC Radio Norfolk, BBC Radio Suffolk, a feature with Chidi Digital the London based producer and DJ as well as playing a set at the Worstead Festival.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Put simply, do yourselves a favour and show some love to this artist that combines the walking jazz bass-lines and backing vocals with the sound and feel of R&B, and that\u2019s a Frowned Upon promise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
